May 12 & 13, 2013
The last couple of days were essentially free days. We did however meet with the Friends of Swallow Caye on the 12th. They gave us a little presentation and answered questions. Their annual operating budget is only $100,000 belizian. So volunteers are always welcome. Unfortunately, we were not able to help them out by putting up some signs as it was too soon of a notice. It would have been nice to have worked with them in the beginning of the marine section of this course as it would have given them ample time to prepare a boat to accommodate for all of us students.
Overall, I enjoyed the marine section of this trip. However, it could have been more organized. We didn't get to do much hands-on work, but rather it was a lot of explanation and observing. Peace out Belize!
