Angie's warm and soft.. tortillas

May 2, 2013

The day started rather early at 0530. Everyone met at the row of wooden green chairs with cups of coffee. The view was quite amazing. The clouds hovered over tree line, the morning fog was slightly thick, the birds were chirping and the bugs were biting. This was our first day out with our fearless leader, Boris. I was excited to finally be able to set foot in one of the most beautiful rainforests in the world. We learned all kinds of essentials today. He went over the klinometer as it would give us the height of the tree. The formula consisted of (top% - bottom%) x base distance. We also learned to measure tree density with the dBh tape. We got into the thick of the rainforest and got our hands a little dirty. The best parts of the day are lunch and dinner after coming back from the rainforest. It is what drove me to work, work, work. Angie makes some amazing tortillas. It's a god send when she puts them out wrapped up in cloths keeping them oh so warm and soft.
